December Basket Auction a Huge Success!

VAMPI's annual basket auction was a great success thanks to the hard work of the Ways and Means Committee, the generosity of donors and the competitive shopping of our members and guests. Thanks to everyone for making the auction the most successful ever! VAMPI raised almost $8,000 to support its quality educational programs. This year a portion of the proceeds were donated to the Miracle League of Virginia, a local charity building baseball fields for children with disabilities.

Letter From the President, By Anita Chapman, CMP

Wow! It is hard to believe that I am writing the second introduction letter for the VAMPI newsletter. Time certainly flies by! Whereas I hate the cold weather and short days there is a lot to love about this time of the year. Like Pumpkin Spice Latte, hot chocolate, gifts, snow, food, family and friends.

It is the time of the year that you embrace your memories…reflecting on the past and the things you are thankful for in life. At the same time, you appreciate all that you currently have while setting goals and objectives for the future. Most of you have completed your Business Plans and are now working on your Action Plans. If you are like me you have plans in place for your personal life as well as your professional one.

Our Board has worked hard in putting together Action Plans to make the most of your membership. We are still looking for suggestions on how we can make the most of your membership and would welcome your input. If you have not completed the Member Needs Survey yet, please do so immediately. This is a tool that we will be using to tailor our future meetings, periodicals and correspondences to meet your needs.

I am thrilled about the educational content our Educational Committee has put together to kick off the new year! For those of you I have not seen lately, you are missed! I sincerely hope to see each of you at our next event.

Until then….all my best!

Anita

  • Anita LeGault, Acorn Hill Winery

Anita joined VAMPI in October of 2007 in conjunction with her new role with Acorn Hill Winery. Anita's past experience includes years as the executive director for a trade association, event and marketing management and years in the wine industry. She joined Acorn Hill Winery in July of 2007 after a 6 month stint on the West Coast. She moved to VA after working with Wineries in Long Island since 2002.

Anita and her two dogs, Annie and Kali, are enjoying life away from the big city. Her interests include trying new restaurants, cooking, reading, old movies and exploring the history of Virginia. Of course, wine is a hobby for Anita as well and she is currently putting together a wine tasting group.

Anita is busy getting ready for Acorn Hill Winery's soft opening in June of 2008. The winery will have several event spaces for both corporate and social events, both indoor and out. They will also be offering tours of the production facility. 2008 is going to be an exciting year for Anita and Acorn Hill Winery!
